Frequently asked questions

Who can use my Upload Links?
By default, anyone who has the link can access the portal to upload files. This can be restricted to specific emails by enabling an email allow list. When enabled, users who follow the link will be asked to enter their email. If the email is on the allow list, a verification code will be sent to the email which must be entered before the portal can be viewed and files can be uploaded.
Is there a file size limit?
Standard accounts support files up to 20GB. Enterprise plans can support files up to 5TB. If you’re not on Enterprise but need support for larger files, get in touch at support@couchdrop.io.
How secure are Upload Links?
Upload Links are a much more secure alternative to receiving files by email, and an easier way to get files into cloud storage accounts. All uploads use end-to-end encryption, and additional security and access controls can be added when setting up the Upload Link.
When someone uploads a file, where is it saved?
Uploaded files are saved directly to the connected storage account. This can be any folder in a supported storage platform like SharePoint, Egnyte, Dropbox, or S3, as well as on-prem or remote file servers.
Can users upload files without having an account?
This is one of the core components of Couchdrop and what sets Upload Links apart from document collection methods from other companies. When you create your portal, you choose a specific folder where files can be uploaded to. Couchdrop then uses the credentials you configured for that storage integration to upload the file to the folder.

What this means is that the user uploads the file, then Couchdrop uses the storage credentials to authorize that file to be uploaded to the storage account. Couchdrop never stores the file, and the user doesn’t need to be added to the organization.
Can I have multiple Upload Links?
Yes, you can have multiple Upload Links. Each Upload Link counts as one endpoint, and you can add as many endpoints as your plan allows.
