Simple user permissions
Easily manage who can access what—secure, straightforward user permissions with Couchdrop
Root Directory / Home Directory Isolation
When creating a new user, you assign a root directory that acts like a “home” for that user. Users cannot navigate outside their root, see only relative paths, and the real underlying storage layout is abstracted. This ensures isolation and limits risk.
Folder-level Permissions & Read/Write Modes
Users can be restricted to specific folders. Permissions can be granular: e.g. read-only (download/view), write-only (upload/submit), or full read/write. This helps segment what different users or external partners can do.
Password & Public Key (RSA/SSH) Authentication
Couchdrop supports both password-based login and SSH/RSA public key authentication for SFTP/SCP. Users can manage their keys, and administrators can configure key types, assign public keys to users.
Feature Access & Protocol Controls
Admins can control which protocols are enabled (SFTP, FTP, FTPS, SCP etc.) and which features are available to users. Additional controls like firewall / static IP controls, custom domains, and domain restrictions can limit access exposure.
Account / Credential Policies
Includes capabilities like password policies, account expiry, lockout, two-factor or multi-factor authentication, logging of credential use, etc. These help enforce good security hygiene and protect against compromised credentials.
SSO / SCIM / SAML Integration
For enterprises, Couchdrop supports single-sign-on (SSO) and identity federation (e.g. via SAML) as well as SCIM for user identity sync (e.g. with Azure, Okta). This helps centralize user management and enforce corporate identity policies.
