Securely send files and data from ADP to Couchdrop

Couchdrop integrates with ADP via secure SFTP endpoints, enabling reliable data transfer in and out of your payroll and HR environment. This allows you to automate the exchange of files and employee data between ADP and external systems as part of your workflows.

Integrate ADP with Couchdrop

How it works

ADP has several ways to export data that are compatible with Couchdrop. When using any of these compatible methods, the files that are exported will land directly in Couchdrop in the connected cloud storage folder. This means that you can directly send files from ADP to platforms like SharePoint, Amazon S3, and Google Drive, without Couchdrop ever storing the files at any point.

Along with receiving the files into cloud storage, Couchdrop can also make changes to the file data and metadata through automations. Receiving files can be used as a trigger for automations that can then transfer, process, and transform data automatically.

Automations can also be used to route files to partners, platforms, and systems. For example, after receiving report data from ADP, you can make a backup copy and store it in an S3 bucket, then push the original out to an internal system for ingestion, all without manual intervention.

Capabilities

  • Export files from ADP and send them to Couchdrop via SFTP.
  • Send data via email attachment
  • Use Couchdrop webhooks as an HTTP endpoint for sending ADP events
  • Combine with automations to send/receive, process, and transform files
  • Route files to cloud storage, external parties, or other internal systems

Getting started

ADP has multiple ways to send files. Some of these methods are completely self-serve, while others require requesting export capabilities from your account rep.

For the ADP Connector, Couchdrop supports three different methods of receiving data from ADP: SFTP, email, and HTTPS. For each method, you’ll need to configure the destination and details in Couchdrop, then set up the data export and delivery schedule in ADP.

ADP SFTP export to Couchdrop

  1. Create/choose a Couchdrop SFTP user to authenticate with ADP and designate a root folder. This folder can be a directory in any connected cloud storage, and files will land directly in this folder.
  2. In ADP, choose the data/report you want to send. Configure the format (CSV, etc.) and choose SFTP as the delivery method.
  3. Add the Couchdrop user details from Step 1, then send/schedule the data to be sent.

Note: Depending on the data, you may need to request an SFTP export or automatic export service from ADP to use SFTP exports.

Email files from ADP to Couchdrop

  1. Create/choose a Couchdrop Mailbox and connect your target directory to the mailbox.
  2. In ADP, find the data/report you want to send and configure the file format. Check that the data supports sending the file via attachment.
  3. Add the email address for the Couchdrop mailbox from Step 1 as the recipient, then schedule/send the data.

Send ADP data via Webhook to Couchdrop

Note: Webhook/HTTPS delivery in ADP is primarily suited for event notifications, not report data.

  1. Choose/create an Inbound Webhook and choose a destination. Copy the generated webhook URI.
  2. Create a marketplace or API integration and subscribe to the relevant ADP events.
  3. Configure the ADP integration to retrieve the event data. Format the data as required.
  4. Send the formatted data to the webhook URI from Step 1.
