What kind of data does Transfer Shield detect?
Transfer Shield can detect data deemed sensitive, like PII, PHI, and financial data, as well as custom content signatures. Transfer Shield classifies what it finds and applies your policy automatically, such as accepting, blocking, or routing for approval.
What file transfer protocols does Transfer Shield DLP support?
Transfer Shield works across all protocols supported by Couchdrop, including SFTP, FTP, AS2, HTTPS, and Webhooks, as well as being compatible with all of the 30+ supported storage platforms.
Does Transfer Shield work with automated transfers, or only manual ones?
Both. Transfer Shield can inspect any transfer that moves through Couchdrop, whether a person initiated it or a system did.
We already have a DLP tool. Why do we need this?
Most DLP covers endpoints and email. MFT and SFTP are a different channel — automated, high-volume, and almost always outside the scope of existing DLP tools. Transfer Shield closes that gap specifically.
Does Transfer Shield work with encrypted transfers?
Yes and no. It depends on where in the workflow inspection happens. Transfer Shield operates inside Couchdrop's transfer layer, so it's not blocked by SFTP transport encryption the way perimeter DLP tools are. For files encrypted at the file level — PGP, for example — Transfer Shield can inspect content after decryption inbound, and before encryption outbound. If a file arrives already encrypted and is never decrypted, there's nothing to inspect. That's true of any DLP tool.
