Integrate BMC Helix with Couchdrop

How it works

BMC Helix Data Manager can read from and write to registered file-system locations for migration and import/export operations. Couchdrop can serve as the FTP or SFTP location for those files, then move them into the correct connected destination.

For example, Helix migration exports can be written to Couchdrop and archived in S3 or Azure Blob, copied to SharePoint for an implementation team, or routed to a customer-specific folder. Import packages can also be staged in Couchdrop from cloud storage or external partners before BMC tools collect them.

Capabilities

  • Provide SFTP and FTP endpoints for BMC Helix Data Manager file-system connections
  • Support import, export, archive, and migration package workflows
  • Move BMC files into SharePoint, S3, Azure Blob, Azure Files, Box, or customer folders
  • Receive migration or data packages from external teams and make them available to BMC environments
  • Use Couchdrop automations to organize, retain, copy, and deliver BMC transfer files

Getting started

  1. Create a Couchdrop SFTP or FTP user for the BMC transfer process.
  2. Choose a connected folder for Helix packages, such as S3 for archive storage or SharePoint for implementation-team access.
  3. In BMC Helix Data Manager, register a file-system connection using FTP or SFTP.
  4. Enter the Couchdrop endpoint, path, and credentials for the registered connection.
  5. Run the import, export, archive, or migration workflow and use Couchdrop automations to route files after transfer.
