Webhook Trigger and Workflow Improvements

Automating file-based workflows can save a massive amount of time and effort, but only if you're able to automate the actions you need.

Our new workflow improvements significantly expand automation capabilities, including a new webhook trigger that enables you to trigger Couchdrop workflows from external platforms.

Webhook Triggers for automations

We've added a new webhook trigger option to workflows that can fundamentally change how you approach certain types of flows.

With webhook triggers, you can use a webhook URL to start the workflow from external systems. This enables you to trigger the flow from external events like when a record is updated, a form is submitted, or something else happens in an external platform.

You can find this option in the settings for the workflow you're editing. Once enabled, Couchdrop will generate the Webhook URL and give you the option to protect with an access token.

Workflow improvements

Webhook triggers aren't the only improvements we've made to workflows. Here's a few of our latest updates:

  • You'll now find a "Run Now" at the top of the workflow builder. Click this to trigger the flow at any point directly from this view. Great for testing and workflows that need manual triggering.
  • Workflows no longer require a specified file path to trigger. Flows without a specified path will resolve to the root directory of the user running them.
  • PGP workflows now support AEAD-enabled PGP files, and these files can now be decrypted with the PGP decrypt action in workflows.

We're always looking to make improvements to workflows. If you have anything in mind that could help your organization, reach out to our team at info@couchdrop.io with your suggestion.
